What is a Bridal Trunk Show?

Congratulations - you're engaged!  You've begun pinning (or have been for months!) photos of your dream wedding gown all over Pinterest.  You think you know what you want.  So you start calling bridal boutiques and realize that this may be more complicated than you realized!  Appointments?  Trunk shows?  WHAT?!?!?  This doesn't have to be confusing - and it shouldn't be.

Ian Stuart - Basilica
First off, if you aren't sure or have a question, simply ask.  Your bridal consultant should be willing to answer any question you may have.  We will begin tackling the most frequently asked questions that our brides ask us here at White of Dublin.  So let's start:

What Is a Trunk Show?

It's a special event scheduled over a period of time when a wedding dress designer sends his/her most current collection of wedding gowns to the bridal boutique for brides to try on during their scheduled appointment times.  The designer may sometimes attend the event and brides will have a chance to meet with him/her.

Why Have Trunk Shows?

Bridal stores typically carry a few dresses from a handful of designers.  Trunk shows allow customers the chance to see and try on dresses that they wouldn't typically see at that store.  The internet has given brides a chance to find designers from all over the world that they love.  Contact bridal salons that carry the designers you're interested in to see whether they have any trunk shows scheduled.

When Are They Held?

Call local bridal boutiques to see when and if there are trunk shows scheduled, and with which designers. Our trunk shows are planned well in advance, so we can give you a list of dates for your favorite designer. The shows last from one to three days, and appointments book up quickly. Call early!

Anything Else I Should Know?

Understand that a trunk show is not technically a sale. The dresses are not marked as discounted. But, sometimes, trunk shows do offer a discount for placing your order on the spot.  Even if we can't offer a discount, the designer may throw in a few extras (buttons down the back, additional length on the sleeves or the train) without charging you more. This relatively small savings could make a big difference if you're working with a tight budget.

New and Unique - Angel Rivera!

What a gem!  Angel Rivera whose exquisite wedding gowns had only been available through Kleinfeld's in New York until recently, has chosen to show his gorgeous designs at White of Dublin.  We are honored to be one of the few stores in the United States to showcase his beautiful collection.  We originally fell in love with Angel when we first saw his amazing bead work on one of his glamorous ball gowns.  We quickly came to realize how Angel's career in fashion with such big names as Amsale, Kenneth Pool and Christos, inspired him to create bridal collections that are as diverse as our brides!  His creativity shows in such architectural designs as DJ, as well as the sophistication of Victoria.  And once we realized that beyond his skill of pattern-making, he is also a fun-loving guy, we knew our brides would fall in love with him, too.  And since Angel is known to travel with his trunk show collection, our brides have enjoyed their one-on-one time with him - and a hand-sketched wedding gown of their dreams by Angel!

Fun Photoshoot!

We were so lucky to work with amazing women on a photoshoot recently - Allison from Studio127 Photography, Kelli from beautimarkedbykelli, Shannon from Goode Hair, and our model, Alisha from Heyman Talent.  Although the air was cold, the sun was shining and we had a blast!  St. Joseph's Cathedral in downtown Columbus is a beautiful place for a wedding! Just check out these fantastic photos - we even got Kelli in her favorite dress for some wonderful shots!

Sassi Holford - Royal Wedding Designer!

Sassi Holford has been designing wedding gowns for 30 years.  She has long been recognized as England's leading wedding gown designer. However, it is only recently that we in the United States gained access to her collection.  And at White of Dublin we are lucky to be the ONLY boutique in the state of Ohio to bring Sassi to you!  In her studio in England, Sassi designs and makes classic English wedding gowns with a contemporary edge. She even designed the wedding gown for Autumn Kelly, wife of Prince Peter Phillips, the son of The Princess Royal (Princess Anne) and her first husband, Captain Mark Phillips.  Sassi Holford gowns are priced between $3,000 and $6,000.  Check out Sassi's amazing designs - you will fall in love, just as we have!

A huge thank you to Allison at Studio 127 Photography for capturing such an amazing day for White of Dublin!  We would also like to say thank you to Connells Maple Lee for the stunning and generous flowers that were sent our way - you truly know how to add beauty to an event with your floral arrangements!  And a shout-out to Mezzo, Enticing Icings and Custom Cakes, La Chatelaine, J. Liu's, Tucci's, and Made from Scratch Catering - all of the food was simply perfect!  We were honored to share with all of our brides what amazing things you can do for them.
